HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror - Gripping Experience of Terror in the Flashing Lights

Airem, one-person studio making and publishing games on Steam, has created a very impressive selection of horror titles. Among these are Apartment 1406 and The Liminal Dimension, both of which are very intense horror games with a clear, singular concept. In the case of HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror, the same principle applies. Here, the focus lies on a camera flash, which is used by the players to find their way in complete darkness, filled with nightmares.

Once more, Airem zeroes into a clear idea and the finished product is a gripping title that immerses you in a horrible world of mostly pitch-black spaces, where dangers and terror potentially lie with each step. In the game, players enter what is called a Creepypasta Museum, looking for a particular painting. However, the same process quickly descends into madness and a flight for bare survival. Check out a bit of the gameplay in my YouTube clip of the game right here:

Through the gameplay, players rely solely on their camera flash and its ability to slow down enemies, but also reveal hidden truths. As the flash illuminates the spaces, the soundscape of the gama works in fantastic manner, supporting the visuals. From screams and moans of agony, to truly disturbing sounds that cannot be easily described, the experience of being in the game is fully audio-visual in its encompassing dread.

Harrowing, bizarre, and deeply unsettling, HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror is a game that all true fans of the genre will appreciate. I'm sure that the experience will be too much for some players, but if you are into horror games that have the capability to impact you profoundly, you need to try out HorrorCore: Maze and Pools of Horror on Steam as soon as you can. Better said, as soon as you dare.
