Twitch Stream Showcase: YoBoySobi

The YoBoySobi Twitch stream has a very interesting background, even though the story of his creator has some tough moments. The stream is run by a man called Doug and he has been gaming since he was five - first with a Super Nintendo and then an Xbox 360. This was when he got into competitive gaming (let’s just say that he has over 1k hours on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) and became good - so good in fact that people usually inquiry in which esports team does he play. But, after 18 years of consoles, Doug moves to PC gaming, which took place in 2017. The next milestone for Doug’s gaming career was his Twitch channel where he took less than 14 days to get his first 50 followers. Right now, he’s focused on gaining followers for Affiliate and Partner status while he plays mainly Apex Legends and Overwatch.

Yet, along with this long and interesting story of gaming, Doug had the misfortune (to put it mildly) to have seizures until he reached the age of 13. As someone who worked as a psychologist at a children’s hospital, I know the tool these have on the kids and their families, even when they have them under control. Because of them, Doug didn’t have the easiest time in school and later on the job market, but today, he believes he found his true calling in video game content creation. I can’t disagree with his assessment and here’s why.

There's this little fact about YoBoySobi that might not seem like a big deal, but I think it's important - this streamer has a cat and it's featured in some of its content. Jet black and super chill (most cats are super chill, to be honest) it is still really cool to see YoBoySobi setting up for hours-long gaming session and having his furry friend hang around. It shows that in his mind (and the mind of the cat too) streaming is not some huge and scary process where he needs to get all hyped up and in the zone - for me, content creators who do this usually end up looking tense or not genuine in some way. For Doug, streaming is just a thing he does and it comes naturally. The same is true for his content and this is not something you can fake.

The same impulse to enjoy games, get good at them and grow as a streamer makes him try to be there for his community in more than one way. This is why he offers his subs and followers monthly giveaways, shout outs, promotions, cash giveaways and much more. All of that, as well his inspiring life story is good enough reason to start following Doug on his YoBoySobi Twitch channel!
